It’s not even 6AM and I’m depressed

Someone I greatly admire was bullied off of Tumblr by her “victims”. And by “victims” I mean loud, aggressive people who can’t seem to pull their heads out of their arseholes for long enough to understand one basic fact:

We. Are. All. Flawed. Humans.

IDK what it is with Tumblr and highlighting every last foible in real people whilst elevating fictional characters to godlike elevations (especially the villains? WTH?) I really don’t get it.

Yes, I get that people can be hurt with insensitive humour. Yes, I understand that some things aren’t funny. But I also understand that any variety of notoriety gets that noteworthy person a veritable flood of attentions both positive and negative.

The negative side won out. Now all of Tumblr is missing out on all the good things she had to say. Congratu-fucking-lations, you goddamned anon cowards.

Why can’t we just take the positive things to our hearts and just… reject negativity?

I know it’s easy to lash out when you’re genuinely in pain. When someone or something hurts you, you want to hurt back. It’s like a survival instinct gone wrong, or something.

How about the next time you want to send someone hate, you think about how you’d feel about receiving it. Send that message as if you were sending it to a hurt and vulnerable soul.

Because we’re all hurt and vulnerable souls.

A little sympathy and understanding goes a long way.

[InB4 “But the bigots”: Yes, some people have really nasty things to say. Some of them are really sickening. I’ve found that you can politely drive them to frothing rage by asking innocent little questions that force them to realise what horrible bigots they are. I’ve found it amusing, but YMMV]
