Gendered Skills Don’t Exist
Gendered skill sets need to die.
They’re horseshit to begin with, they’re ridiculous if you think about it… and I did.

Racists Get Evolution Wrong: Darwin Needed Better Editors
I know I’m not going to convince any racists with this. They’re already a lost cause. Hopefully, I can give anyone decent some ammo to use against them.
Autism and You: Things I Want Nypicals to Know
In this wordpress wednesday - things I want normal people to know about autism.
Tropes I Despise: The Miraculous Minority
It’s the minority who ticks many checkboxes and saves the day!
What they are not, alas, is the Straight White Abled Mainstreamer who’s the actual or subtextual Hero of the piece.
(cont) And it is so TIRING. It’s not really that hard to grasp, is it? That we’re people and should be granted the basic respect everyone deserves? That perhaps instead of listening to Autism Warrior Mums, you should listen to AUTISTIC PEOPLE when trying to determine their wants and needs? That we shouldn’t be ‘cured’, and there shouldn’t be foetal screenings to ensure that people like us aren’t born in the first place? I just… it’s not that hard, right?
I can honestly say I have the good fortune of not encountering that much horseshit. My peeve is the Anti-vax mothers who swear that autism is a fate worse than literal death.
[I’m sure we’ve all seen the one about the kid who caught the first case of tetanus in Ohio because they didn’t ‘need’ a vaccine 9_9]
There’s people alive today who have no idea that tetanus is a thing. There’s people who don’t recognise that some “harmless kids’ diseases” are only harmless because vaccines exist. I lived through the era when people would pray for your kid if they caught measles.
Yeah. You can’t ever convince me that vaccines are more dangerous than Autism. One: I predate the MMR vaccine that started all the fuss. Still have Autism. Two: I remember the days when some of these diseases were deadly. Three: The leading cause of death in autistic kids is… (drumroll) Their fucking parents.
So yeah. Enough of the Burden Porn that centres around the entire autistic demographic.
Have you heard about “puppetgate”? There is an actual play that contains a non-verbal autistic character who is portrayed by an actual freaking puppet. The illogic behind this choice is bending over backwards to degrees unseen outside of a pretzel factory.
There is a sharp divide between autistic people who fucking HATE this bullshit, and the nypical, can’t-get-enough-burden-porn theatre reviewers who think this is the best thing since sliced eggs.
I’m willing to bet money that if these peeps could abort an autistic kid, they would, simply because of all the Burden Porn out there.
We need to end Burden Porn.
If I could sponsor a Hallmark Type movie showing parents how to interact with their autistic kids, I would. Intensive Interaction etc, etc. Show all these Burden Porn arseholes that there are other ways to view autism.
Even if I could write scripts, I wouldn’t have the wherewithal to get it out there. Alas.
What say all of us Autistics gather together and make our own anti-burden porn production?
Another Tumblr Apocalypse
I’m angry about the purge so I made a Wordpress post about it.
Imaginary Economy
I started talking about how my time-based economy could work, and ended up ranting about the evils inherent in this era.
Whoops
An open letter from a pissed-off writer
Dear Tumblr @staff,
I recently learned that tagged reblogs don’t show up in that tag, even though that tag might not be related to the original posts tags.
What. The flying. FUCK?
Writers and artists depend on being seen. That means reblogs and tags. Reblogging with a tag used to mean ‘all the people who follow this tag will see the thing’. But now it just means ‘anyone who follows the reblogger will see the thing’.
That’s a narrower audience. That’s less people who see the thing. Less money for the OP. And the less money the creators have to spend, the less they’re going to be interested in buying anything you’re trying to sell on this site.
Creative people will go to fresher fields. They will find an arena where they will be seen by as many people as possible. They will leave and your content will be solely made up of people who reblog memes all day long.
And once people see a constant stream of the same meme on their dashboards, they’ll go to where the creative people are.
And then you won’t be able to sell anything to anyone.
But -hey- you might _want_ to kill this site. We all know that the owners are losing money on it. And it’s such a sinkhole because of _your_ mismanagement.
I’m only staying here until Pillowfort is up. You’ve already lost me. You’ve probably already lost a lot of people who dislike your ham-handed attempts at making a profit out of people who are already broke. We’ve all tried to tell you better ways to do that, but you never listen.
And that’s why you’re going to get a sudden drop in content the instant you have a viable competitor.
What would I miss most by turning Vegan?
Short answer: Chewing, because the only vegan food is Soylent(possibly).
Long answer:
Veganism is the lifestyle choice of eschewing food items that could possibly harm an animal. On the surface, that seems nice and friendly to our fur-bearing friends [and scale-bearing, and skin-bearing, and chitin-bearing etc] until you actually think about it.
There’s not a plant on our current menu that doesn’t exploit an animal.
Of the foods that don’t use bees to procreate, there’s still the microfauna in the soil - and the blood-and-bone fertiliser used to help them grow. And even if you [Yes you! Let’s not forget the humans treated worse than animals to cultivate and harvest those vegan foods] managed to grow your food in a completely sterile environment away from all other known life, there’s still the billions of tardigrades on abso-fucking-lutely everything.
You can’t exactly kill (or otherwise get rid of) a tardigrade very easily, which is vital for the aforementioned sterile environment.
And what about microscopic animals? Is killing them for your sterile environment exploitation? Or is letting them in your food-growing environment exploitation?
These questions are way too troublesome for me. Ergo, Soylent is the only truly vegan food, since it comes from minerals and other non-food sources. And even then, there’s probably microfauna in it anyway.
So yeah. I’d miss chewing.
[Yes I know I’m probably going to get a lot of hate from the Vegans in my audience; but I made the lifestyle choice of being an Ethical Omnivore, which means that, though no food is ultimately forbidden, I consider all the living things that become the process of my life and purchase food considerately. I respect your life choice, even though I don’t understand it. Please respect mine.]
