Morning Fire Check [7th Jan  2020]

Those numbers  are the number  of  fires  in that area. The single peg up in north-east Queensland is a single fire. I’ve browsed some  state-specific maps and it’s looking  like  every single park and  nature reserve is up in flames.

This  is evidence of climate change. This is a set of  fires that shouldn’t be happening this early in the season. This is worse than it has ever been.

This is not the action of environmentalists. Australian environmentalists know that our native flora depends on much smaller seasonal fires. Even they wouldn’t light them in the approaching summer.

This is the direct result of the inaction of our alleged leaders, because acting on climate change wouldn’t get them cushy payments from the old school energy mob and their mates who just love the status quo.

Our alleged leader cut funding to bushfire prevention, refused to acknowledge that climate change inaction was causing bigger problems with Australian flora, and decided that holidaying in Hawaii was far better than taking action against the disaster he caused.
