Challenge #02750-G193: What Evil Sows…

Human’s blood is a well-known weapon. Full of leucocytes ready to protect human body from disease and foreign invaders. While used on other forms of life it can act like acid; burning and destroying skin. Blood isn’t a cheap thing, because selling it is forbidden everywhere. But black market found a way to produce enough blood to gain on it — blood farms. Cages where humans are drugged so they won’t fight back. Everything begins to fall apart when one of farm workers didn’t drug their victims and humans finally started to realise what is happening around them. – Anon Guest

[AN: It isn’t just the acid and the leucocytes, Human blood is loaded with pathogens that breed once removed from the body and left in certain conditions. Look up forensic cleaning sometime if you really want to learn about the nasties that happen because of blood spatter. Offensensitivity warning for drug use in the story below.]

Humans are Deathworlders. This is known. Their very bodies are factories of pathogens in multiple forms. Their mouths are cesspools of bacteria. Their bodily fluids are acidic. As for their blood… it is truly a font of chemical warfare. Even a healthy Human’s blood is loaded with pathogens, antibodies, enzymes and so forth. A biological cornucopia that’s one crucial tilt away from attacking its own host in confusion. All of this is known.

If someone could find a way to create in abundance what a Human body does naturally, they could reign in terror over multiple Havenworlder, and even normal Galactic worlds. This, too, is known. There are unethical sorts who will sell Humans to interested parties… some of them are also Human. This, despite everything, is known. The CRC repeatedly attempt to stop them, but there are always more.

Given all this, it was no surprise that a facility like Rapture Farms would arise. Take one Greater Deregulation, rife with dissidents who do not like living in a world where even clean air is taxed. Add a pinch of knowledge, which is always a dangerous thing. Stir well with the Dunning-Kruger effect, and you inevitably get Rapture Farms.

Gamer‘s mob mentality https://youtu.be/1DALU-AHb-U – Anon Guest

[AN: offensensitivity warning for toxic masculinity content, simulated violence within the linked video]

No matter what the team sport, Humans will become so invested in their team that hostility becomes part of the identification procedure. – Excerpt from The Galactic’s Guide to Human.

The real trick, the Alliance decided, was to discourage the truly horrible behaviour when it started. Allowing it to persist only resulted in worse examples of more of the same. Humans followed the will of the pack, no matter how eclectic or bizarre that pack might be. Gentle correction and a certain amount of tactical questioning has been most effective.

“I do not understand the humour,” said Vrex, in a textbook example of quelling an offensive attempt at humour via confusion. “Can you educate me in the meaning?”

Challenge #02748-G191: Howdy Neighbour

If you truly think that your world is needed to be saved; you’re a bigger fool than I thought… – Anon Guest

It had been quite the journey to the distant station. More effort in one lifetime than Rilissith’s people had been through in recent history. They had been ambling vaguely towards space travel for previous centuries, but that was before they discovered that something was going chronically wrong with their solar system.

They could, with their current technology, launch one person at appreciable speed towards the installation. It had been there for a century or two, at least. Whoever was there was keeping to themselves, and not bothering the planet of Sahaemar, so the scientists observing it weren’t concerned.

Rilissith became concerned when hir scanners revealed that the inhabitants of the station were Deathworlders. There was no going back, all the same. Ze ran through everything hir people had gathered about Deathworlders and how to appeal to what there was of their better nature.

A: cak-likna!

B: did you just swear?

A: I don’t know I say something random when I’m in pain

B: try not to say that again

A: wait it was a swear word?! – Anon Guest

Offensensitivity is a peculiar thing. What offends one group might be perfectly normal. It is wise for travellers to check to see what’s taboo in areas they are planning to visit for extended lengths of time. It’s always wise to find out what’s rude in the local area when one is just passing through.

As for temporary travel arrangements, it is also wise to discover the limits of one’s ride. In the case of Hitchhiker Leth, their current trucker and company on this leg of their lifelong journey had a Thing against cursing. Any swear-word could make them upset in varying directions. Most of that was directly related to personal trauma rather than moral offense.

Nevertheless, Hitchhiker Leth tried her best. In her disfavour, she had been around to very many places and had picked up a lot of colourful language. The impulse to vent with the most colourful language was very strong indeed. Which lead to made up swears that Leth thought couldn’t possibly be real.

Carbon fibre plates, reinforced with a titanium alloy. Hi spec thermal regulator, and military grade ballistic glass. Now I just need the human to stress test this livesuit. – Anon Guest

“What kind of Human?” said Glorz.

“I’m not sure I understand the question.”

“Well, there are the Humans you pay to try and destroy it, there’s the Humans you pay to life-test it, and the Humans you pay to try and keep it in top condition. Then there’s the fourth if you want to test for unforeseen flaws.”
