Good day everyone. Its me again, Maria. I will never get tired of asking help for my family, just a little recap: From the start of the pandemic I was laid off on work and because of all the people who helped me and my family, I was able to helped my brother in his last days, he is a dialysis patient but unexpectedly passed away last Nov 13, 2020. I was able to provide food for my family, my mother, brother and 8 kids, they’re my nephews and nieces who is orphan. We were able to live in a safer house because of the donation i received from all the generous and kind people. Its 2021 and there is still no sign on when the pandemic ends. I’m planning to write a sweeping Fantasy trilogy in which I have a Black Trans woman as the central hero [there will be others of course] in an area where she didn’t grow up [she’s either exiled or ran away, I’m still feeling out all the stuff] and I want you to help out with the more culturally sensitive areas of the narrative.
Your “please do”s, “please don’t”s, and “you gotta have”s would be incredibly helpful here.
I’m writing this because I want to see this. Trans folk and POC have existed since the dawn of time. Fantasy needs to stop being All White, or White Until Further Notice.
I know I need to do some deep dives here and be incredibly in tune with the sensitivities. I need to be made aware of my blind spots. So if you want to be in on the co-pilot’s list, and be able to read the book as it happens, you can also let me know. Stop me before a faux pas.
I’m also building a Trello to keep track of everything, and if you want to weigh in over there for the creation of the whole thing, that would also be welcome.

i wish there were words like “girl” and “boy” and “man” “guy” “lady” etc to refer to nonbinary people besides just “person” bc sometimes i dont feel like gendering myself when i want to say stuff like “guess who just slipped and fell in the mud while walking the dogs. this girl/guy.” because “guess who slipped in the mud while walking the dogs. this person” makes me feel like i am a robot or an alien trying to integrate into human society without being noticed and is not doing it quite right
What about “bod”? Short for “body”.
I know it’s still a little depersonalising, but it scans roughly the same as girl/by/guy/man/lady…
Cons: Can be mistaken for ‘bot’. May still need explaining. Aforementioned depersonalisation.
Pros: At least it sort of fits with language as it exists?
