Reasons why I need all of you to buy my books:

  1. My internet has crapped out yet again and I’m using my Beloved’s iPhone and precious data to post this
  2. New air conditioner >$600
  3. New floor for master bedroom ~$700
  4. Recently paid rates bill <$800
  5. Average cost of a book cover <$400

As you can see, I kind of need you to buy generously.

Now complete at Smashwords and all other good e-retailers!

The entire Hevun’s Child trilogy!

You would pay less for all three of these books than you would for one book in a regular, brick-and-mortar bookstore! Why would anyone want to miss out on a deal like this?

Tell the author you bought the whole series and get some really pathetic and enthusiastic gratitude!

I can’t art. It’s obvious.

Alas, I also lack the resources to purchase pro-level art for a book that will never pay me back.

My usual design consultant [aka best-beloved SO] is too busy to help me before the October 4 publication date.

So. Speaking as someone who lacks design skills to everyone who actually has them: What do I need to do to make this cover look cool?

My goal is simple, but slightly “off”. Like a Penguin Classics cover from an alternate dimension. You remember how they had the title and some old etching art with a crappy colourisation job on the cover? Something like that, with a hint of eldritch.

That’s why I put the shadow effects on the title, to make it look like it was about to float away from the cover.

As always, I insist that my name is in a smaller font size than the title.

Hints and tips appreciated, peeps. Just remember I have limited Photoshop skills [I moebius’d the front wheel of the bike myself :D It took me five hours and fifteen goes.] so if you’re going to get technical, break it down to the For Dummies version :)

I wanted a title font that looked slightly unhinged. Better suggestions also appreciated. Thanks in advance for all your help.

What would you do to make this look cooler?

Rebaggling in the hope of some feedback on this thing.

It’s 2:40 AM

I woke up at 1:25.

Tried EVERYTHING to get myself back to sleep. Took a different sleep-aid. Did some meditation. Tried to focus on spreading the need to rest throughout my entire body.

Nothing.

This time, It was heat.

Winter get’s down into the low teens [celcius] here and I do NOT like the cold. Therefore, we have a nice down quilt to keep us warm, my beloved and I.

Alas, long about the wee small hours of the morning, it’s TOO good at keeping us warm and I wake up in sweaty confusion, unable to get back to sleep.

Then it’s the battle for comfort, weighing the pros and cons of beloved-snuggling versus bad back and being in pain for the rest of the day.

So I put on my warmest clothes and came to my compy to vent.

I’ll start feeling tired at 5:30. When it’s time for me to wake up and organise the brats for the day. At 1PM, I will be nearly useless for almost anything… but I still have to go fetch the brats, later on.

Sound would not have helped me this morning.

Better bedding is also currently out of my budget. Alas.

Buy my books. Please. Help an insomniac out.

SleepPhones Headphones

See this thing?

I want this thing.

I want this thing SO bad because I have enough sleep issues to keep every periodicals section in every library in the world fully stocked for the rest of eternity.

Ideally, I would love to get the wireless version, because that means I won’t run the risk of strangling myself in my sleep with the cords.

I currently have $33 in my Paypal account because of my book sales. I need $100 to get the wireless ones. And then I need postage and handling fees on top of that.

I AM SO DESPERATE FOR A DECENT NIGHT’S SLEEP THAT I’M WILLING TO GET THE WIRED ONES AND RISK STRANGULATION.

Two more book sales and I could do it.

This is why I’m madly imploring all of y'all to help me sell my works. [ http://bit.ly/1hWjCxE ]

600+ people downloaded Hevun’s Rebel for free. If ALL of them bought the rest of the trilogy, I would have no worries at all in getting this. Or paying off the damage to my car. Or maybe even some bills.

What do I need to do to sell some GD books?

Dear Followers:

I can’t help noticing that none of you are reblogging my own sad attempts at marketing this wonderful new book of mine:

Available soon in all good eBook stores everywhere. As soon as Smashwords approves it for Premium distribution.

So there’s a pic and a link for you. Feel free to create your own shill. Just try to avoid spoilers. Y'all want to win the attentions of new readers without giving the whole thing away.

ALSO:

I am looking for bilingual or multilingual folks willing to translate the whole darn trilogy into other languages, so that all folks all over the world can read my story.

If you want to translate the short stories as well, that’s a bonus as far as I’m concerned.

But I also have no idea how to share things out, etc.

Cover art wanted!

Anyone looking at my Smashwords Profile knows that my own skills at making covers for my works are very limited indeed.

I need someone with better art skills than my own (not hard) to make some covers that will actually encourage people to buy my words (tricky bit).

I also have very little in the way of income. Despite the hundred-some folks who’ve downloaded my free story, I have exactly zero folks who’ve bought anything.

I am willing to come to an arrangement. Either a percentage of sales or up-front purchase, I don’t mind as long as we have it formalized somehow.

What you get out of it: An opportunity to read something before anyone else has a chance to see it - free! And, as a bonus, you get paid to do the art (I presume) you love :)

Much as I love Xotxot’s cover art, he’s snowed under with real life and can’t help me out any more. And I need a better artist than pathetic old me.

Is there anyone out there who can help?

Someone who is expert in Minecraft and/or redstone please help me. In creative mode, this piston does this. In survival mode, it also does this.

Is it something I did? Is it my computer?  What am I doing wrong? By all accounts, this setup should work… but ‘should’ is not 'does’.
