Challenge #01409-C314: Whoops

I’ve always wondered what would happen if early version of Clark Kent dived into the wrong phone box. Namely that blue Police Call Box. – @knitnan

London. The birthplace of the Western civilisation. It was more like a tourist spot that people lived in, now, but that didn’t really matter. Clark was supposed to be covering some major deal where the royal family weighed in on an international trade partnership. He was to get as many exclusive photos as he could.

Or, he would have, were it not for an alien vessel invading London’s skies.

This was definitely a job for Superman.

Challenge #01407-C312: When I Say ‘Run’…

“Run!” – @knitnan

She’d seen him coming and started before he finished saying the word. It was a good run. Ground-eating and fast without being tiring. And, he felt, keeping pace with him because she was polite.

“Most people ask why,” said the Doctor.

“If you’re running, there’s always a good reason,” she said. “Teri Grace, Special Advisor to UNIT.”

“I’m sorry, I can’t… I’m broken,”

“Is that what they told you?” – OohLookShiny

The Doctor skidded to a halt in yet another room in the complex. There, a vaguely cylindrical robot went in a circuitous path, repeatedly fixing things that, ultimately, caused everything to return to its original state.

“Sysiphus,” he muttered.

Holly stopped, too, almost blundering into him. She took in the scene and said, “Excuse me?”

Challenge #01381-C286: Hell’s Rowdy Neighbour

Here in Aussie high school students celebrate end of 12 years education by one week called “Schoolies” often followed by hangovers, regrets, and long explanations to parents. The Media have a field day. – Anon Guest

The music was so loud that it was incomprehensible. The crowds were so thick that movement was next to impossible. Most of the people present weren’t wearing very much at all. The air was thick with a miasma of alcohol, hormones, and a not-so-subtle tincture of vomit.

The Doctor emerged from the TARDIS, took one look around, and turned back on the blue box. “Really?” he said. “Here? Now?”

The TARDIS remained immobile and silent, as it always did.

seeing people celebrating Moffat leaving and saying shit like “finally” and “the evil is defeated” makes me feel sick

how far up RTD’s arse are their heads for them to think Moffat has completely ruined the show to the point where anyone is a better choice for showrunner than him??

I’m so angry jfc

they don’t even realise that Moffat’s writing is the only reason the show didn’t get cancelled after David Tennant left, or that a change in showrunner is way scarier than a change in actors because it literally has the capacity to sink the show

Moffat knew and understood Doctor Who better than anyone who tries to hate on him and that, my dear friends, is just fact

I’m certainly not celebrating his leaving. And Chris will be a worthy successor. My sadness is the way it’s been fudged. And that we’ve been lied to and fobbed off. Promised a full season of 12 episodes and Christmas special. They’ve effectively tied the show by the bollocks by making us wait a whole year for more…..at the height of the shows popularity. It’s suicide. And I can’t believe they’ve done it this way.

I appreciate everything RTD and Moffat have done for Doctor Who. I have loved all of Doctor with every doctor. Each has their own love-ability and character and the writing is great no matter what.
Moffat came up with some seriously awesome characters, monsters, villans, etc… I AM pissed that suddenly we have to wait a year. Wtf. Did Moffat stop writing to find a new showrunner? Are they figuring out stories still? Finding a companion or 2 is difficult? Something had to have not gone to plan for this to happen. They haven’t taken time off like this since NewWho came back I don’t think. And like it was said, at the height of it’s popularity! People are waiting with bated breath!! Come on!!

i think its because chris is doing broadchurch rn?

It’s because the controller of BBC One Charlotte Moore chose to hold it back for 2017 because of a lot of big events:

‘I have decided to schedule Steven’s big finale series in Spring 2017 to bring the nation together for what will be a huge event on the channel. 2016 is spoilt with national moments including the Euros and Olympics and I want to hold something big back for 2017 - I promise it will be worth the wait!‘ - (x)

It’s disappointing, but Moffat has said all along that scheduling wasn’t up to him.

I make no secret of the fact that I am not a fan of Steven Moffat, but for every problem I think he had I know that he did amazing things as showrunner, and besides, even if I don’t like him much, other people do, and saying things like “finally” or “the evil is defeated” is just stupid.

Do I think now is a good time for Steven Moffat to leave? Yes. Am I glad that we are going to get a new showrunner with new perspectives and ideas, giving Moffat the much-deserved rest he needs? Yes. Am I going to rub it in the faces of everyone who likes Moffat? No, because I have goddamn standards!

I never hated Moffat, but I understand the people who had problems with elements of his writing. The last two series were fine, and there were definitely standout episodes (this year’s Zygon two parter, for one), but they were not as good as his first ones IMO. It’s time for him to move on so we can get a fresh take on the series.

We only get ONE episode this year??? They could at least do some specials!

Moffat did too much all by himself. And as a direct result we got way too many mad-lib character descriptions [eg: the PRONOUN who VERBed, the ADJECTIVE PRONOUN] and a little tiny bit too much of “a woman has to be some kind of special to get noticed by the Doctor”.

I’m an old-school grackle and I admit it. I remember the “golden years” of Doctor Who with Jon Pertwee and most of Tom Baker. They didn’t need multimillion-dollar production values. They had LOTS of good writers and people who could act their way around the cardboard sets and the ridiculous rubber monsters.

I’m not surprised that Moffat’s burned out after this many years of having the show on his shoulders. What Doctor Who needs, what it’s always needed, is a sizable cadre of writers who can take turns at writing a set number of stories per year. And no more of this season-long arc stuff. It’s done. The beauty of Doctor Who is you could go anywhere and do anything.

And why not a few companions who the Doctor helps to grow? Didn’t that used to be a thing?
