Full credit needs to be given to both me and @dualityandsuch who encouraged me to flesh out Monty’s circus.
Do send me a link or where to find it, I would love to see where yours is going.
The AU’s I write are for fun and I would love seeing how other people want to play with them.
Just… keep it as PG as you can if you please. Some of these AU’s feature minors. [which means allusions, implications, and double-entendres wahey, but outright smut is given a withering glare if not frowned upon] I live for loving schmoop between consenting grownups all the same.
TLDR: Yes you can play.
That’s Beloved with a capital. Name substitute and all that jazz.
I’m 10000% behind every little reminder that my chosen life partner is beloved, and IMHO more people should do that kind of thing with their SO’s. Even when I’m temporarily cross with them, I have that thing there.
Like… yes, they are my Beloved. Even though they Did That Thing or Didn’t Listen or whatever the semi-annual spat is. Or if they’re on their bullshit again.
[Fun fact: Chaos as a minor grommet believed that she, too, should call for Beloved as, “Hey Love?” because I said that so often to get their attention. It took quite some time for Chaos to get the hang of more traditional parental handles]
Remind yourself daily that you love people. It helps smooth out the speed bumps on this rocky road of life.
- strawberry: favorite desserts?
I am a chronic sweet tooth, so anything with loads of sugar in it has my vote. Salted Caramel Anything generally gets my attention on any menu. Since I’m on the Keto, sugar of all kinds is verbotten territory unless it’s a feast day, so I go for the biggest hit in the least amount of time.
That said, I’m also a sucker for the finer things in life. Lindt chocolate, Guillian - those seashell hazelnut praline things, Ferrero Roche’s and Jersey Caramels :D There’s also a brand of boysenberry ripple ice cream out my way that’s just The Bomb. Yummo.
- cherry: can you play any musical instruments or can you sing?
My immediate family says ‘no’ to both. The meanies. I have been told by more distant relatives that I have a decent singing voice. If anything, my desire to imitate the original version I heard probably lets me down. I’m middle of the road, vocally, so the high notes and the low notes get me in the end.
[Boy, someone’s having fun…]
- tangelo: if you could be any mythical creature, which would you be?
I want to be a Dragon, but I’d probably wind up as a Kobold if I tried it.
- watermelon: do you have a job? if so, what is your job title?
I am, alas, not on anyone’s payrolls. I don’t even earn enough from my writing to call it a job.
- blackberry: is your life an action film, a comedy, a romantic comedy, or drama?
In my darker moments, I suspect my life is a sitcom and I’m the writers’ butt monkey. I’m probably closer to one of those artsy films where they take you into Imagination Land for a good 50% of the screen time.
- mango: what is your trademark?
The ability to say things sideways in such a way as to alienate my readers. And starting sentences with ‘and’… and a love of the ellipsis…
- pineapple: sexual orientation?
Panromantic demisexy [and slightly obtuse. You have to have a big, glittery sign that says, “I’M FLIRTING WITH YOU” and even then I will notice the glitter before reading it]
- kiwi: what’s something that fascinates you?
I always return to murder most foul. How they did it, if they got away with it, what forensics can teach us about how to capture them etc etc. I can’t stay away from that shit.
- peach: do you have any piercings or tattoos?
I have two traditional ear piercings and I once gave myself an accidental tattoo with a gun. (semi-long story)
- raspberry: favourite flower?
Jacarandas, frangipanis, and those carnation-like things that change colour [I think they’re called “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow” but it’s been literal years]
- coconut: favorite perfume?
Beloved once purchased a perfume that smells exactly like spun sugar. That one.
No problem :D I love getting asks and rambling on when I should be working.
It is very, very easy to blend loves when you have multifandom obsessions. See: numerous crossovers.
When it comes to blending music and fiction, I’ve… always despised badly-written songfic. When I say “badly written”, I mean someone’s copy-pasta’d the lyrics into a document and added what amounts to their stage directions for their fave characters with little in the way of flavour or emotion. Therefore, I avoid that shit like the plague.
I can, have, and will use various fitting lyrics as a combo reference/goof, and do advise that practice for others. It’s fun. Especially when it’s spotted by others.
Music inspires. It helps some of us (points to self) focus. Sometimes it also distracts (points to self). My ASD may be comorb’d with AD(H)D, I can’t tell for sure.
Back to the point…
There’s large swathes of Helpless that just don’t fit. As far as I’ve written, Agatha doesn’t have a sister or siblings [like Agatha Heterodyne, who she’s named after - see what I mean about blending loves?] so the bit about the sister won’t mesh.
Choruses and refrains, though? Look into your eyes and I’m drowning in ‘em… is a definite win. 10/10, would use that lyric five-ever.
Judiciously sampling the right lyrics is always win. I mean, I’m the goober who wrote Unexpectedly Deadly just so I could have that Mr Brightside goof in there. Also as a PSA to fucking vaccinate everyone who actually can be vaccinated, please and thank.
And in closing - if a set of lyrics gives you a rampant rabid fic idea, then write that mofo. Do not let yourself be embarrassed about the quality or lack thereof. Be proud that you made a thing. Then make a better thing on the next round and be proud of that.
I’ve been writing weird stories since -yeesh- age five to six. I’m forty-six now. Everyone has to start somewhere and maybe this is your call.
In brief: (One of us-style chant) Do the thing! Do the thing! Goople gobble, goople gobble. Do the thing!
I love that you’re enjoying my work. Answers under the cut because this is probs gonna be long. I ramble.
Bless. May your panics be easily dissipated.
