Steven Universe - Lion’s adventure
Lion finished his patrol of the city and curled up near the house of the Scion. Soon, very soon, it would be warm in just this spot. Warm was always good. The Scion would need Lion today. Lion couldn’t tell exactly when, but he knew. He was going to be Needed.
And in the meantime, there was sleep.
“Is it safe to just… lie on him like that?”
Lion peeked. The human friend of Scion Steven was here again. Lion didn’t mind her. She was lighter than some of his previous burdens.
“Why not? said Steven. “This is the best spot for… lion around and reading.”
Lion tipped him off for that one. Trouble. Trouble was on the breeze. This way? That way?
“What is it? A gem attack? A monster? A monster fusion?”
The human friend dove under the decking for her sword. Good. Humans were starting to approach life with a little more sense.
There it was. One of the hidden places. Lion bowed to allow the children on his back. Then leaped. Far enough in the right direction and… roar-warp to the nearest soft place to the Trouble.
Kindergarten. Lion hated this place as much as some of the Gems. It was dead earth. Ruined for any kind of life.
Except… that kind of life.
“Oh no!”
They were screaming.
“Euw,” winced the human. “What are they?”
“I call ‘em Mooshups,” said Steven. “They’re… y’know Frankenstein?“
They were screaming and only he could hear them.
“Yeah…”
“Dead gems are shattered crystals. These are… mooshed together like the monster.”
They didn’t want to be like this any more than he wanted to face them.
Whispered, “O my God…”
“We gotta poof them before Garnet finds out.”
Lion tried his roar. The smaller Mooshups poofed instantly, but the bigger ones. Especially the biggest one… didn’t seem phased.
Fortunately, there are always claws and swords.
Lion didn’t question why they didn’t fight. Why they seemed to surrender to claw and blade. That wasn’t important. Not in comparison to protecting the Scion.
Steven bubbled all the force-fused shards. Paused on the brink of sending them to the table.
“Wait! Won’t the others see these?”
“Oh. I… I can’t let Garnet see these. She was so upset by the last batch…”
Once again, Steven stored something in Lion’s other realm. He would keep these relics safe.
He was, after all, created to serve. Either the will of his former mistress, or that of his new master.

Some Loose Onion Translations
He’s certainly strange and a bit of a mischievous kid, yeah, but he’s certainly not malicious and mean. He just has a different way of communicating than Steven does.
Let me give you some logical explanations as to his behavior so you doods stop calling him a root alien yeah?
Chip Thief- This is probably the least weird thing a kid would do. He sneaks around and causes mischief to get attention and stave off boredom till Dad comes home. Nothing too serious or strange, but he probably to be at least a little more disciplined? It’s all fun and games until ya steal something serious from the temple kid.
Steven Face-Onion doesn’t like food. So he played with it and carved Steven’s face. Afterwards he tried to eat, but couldn’t, because when you play with food for too long it’ll get kinda stale an you lose your appetite. So he spit it out. He wasn’t sending some weird “I’ll eat Steven’s face” or anything. He just tried to eat some food after messing around and failed.
Snaaaaaake- Kids like showing off their pets right? Onion wanted to show Steven his pet snake and since Steven found what was going to be his snakes lunch he thought it would be cool if Steven would like to feed him. You know, like giving your friend a bone to give to your dog? Yeah like that. It’s not weird for Onion to feed his snake live mice cuz that’s just what he does as a snake owner.
Birthing Video-Sometimes the whole “showing your kid how you gave birth” thing isn’t as weird to some families, and is a way of showing how much you love them. Like “This is you. This is when you came into our lives. This is you’re first breadth. Isn’t is amazing?” type of thing. He wanted to share that moment with Steven, not because it’s creepy, but because it’s important to him. He even has what appears to be his baby picture in his treasure room.
Treasure Box Room- Onion realized that Steven’s not gonna appreciate his stuff the way he does. So instead he show Steven something he knows they both like. The toys. He even goes so far as to give Steven one, as a way of apologizing for a previous episode, as well as a sign of friendship. It’s something that can finally connect the two.
Moooouuuuse- Onion realized that Steven didn’t want to have his snake eat a live mouse in front of him. So Onion decided at the end to show Steven that “Don’t worry-I didn’t give it to him. It’s okay.” He might have put it in his mouth cuz he’s not supposed to take them out of the house, or he might still be teasing Steven in his own, weird way. Either way I hope he washed his mouth afterwards…
So there! Onion’s not threatening or scary. He just has a different method of communicating and expressing himself from Steven, which is why the kid comes off as creepy. So don’t demonize the kid is all I’m saying?

If you’re male and watch Steven Universe, then watch Steven Universe.
You don’t need a useless fandom tag like “Gemtlemen” or “Gembro” or “Bro Brobrobro” to do it, just watch it as is. Dumb tags like that are as useless as those awkward “This is not a KIDS show” posts that people use to justify watching certain shows.
Just watch the shows you enjoy and just chill.
Plus, you don’t need to “bro” anything up to justify watching it because that sort of mentality leads to toxic events that screws up everything(for example, the “bronies” mentality and how it drove fans of MLP to quickly distance themselves from that toxic term because of the mess that infests around it.)

Plus, half of Steven Universe’s messages are about shattering gender roles. If you give yourself a crappy male-only fan name to use, you’re only telling everyone that you don’t even understand the point of what you’re watching; you just want to take another fandom and turn it into a gross dudes-only club.

Steven Universe brain fart
The episode Monster Buddies got me thinking.
During the transformation sequence where the gem transforms into Centipeedle, it briefly takes a humanoid form.
All the monsters have gems. So do the Crystal Gems.
Maybe… Maybe the monsters are Gems who got corrupted by evil forces. Rose Quartz was trying to heal them…
Steven may be the anti corruption force the corrupted Gems need.
