Daily OpusEverything I write is freely rebloggable. Just keep the source and tell people about my books :D [Until I decide otherwise, my pronouns are Ze/Hir/Hirself. As in "Ze went to the shops to get hir medication hirself". Thank you for the respect.]
Reblog/retweet our fics! If we post them, it’s so they can be shared… and if no one shares them, it’s really demoralising!
Comment on AO3, reply to the tumblr posts, leave something in your tags if you reblog! A smiley is enough. I promise a smiley is enough. Sometimes we just need to know that there’s a real person out there who read our story!
Likes, kudos, make yourselves known!! Hits on AO3 don’t really tell us how many people have read our fics, but kudos do (to an extent)!!
Commission us, if we’re doing commissions! Share the posts if you can’t.
Send us prompts when we ask for them! I can’t speak for every writer, but when I reblog a prompt list it’s not an “only my friends and mutuals can send me something” kind of situation, it’s a general offer!! If we ask for prompts, we want prompts, it’s that simple. Do go on anon if you find it intimidating to use your own name!
Send us asks about out WIPs, about our characters, about our writing process! As long as you’re polite, we’re very excited to get any sort of interaction.
If you’re feeling bold, write a rec for us or for our stories! Include us in rec lists for a pairing, a genre, etc… Honestly, even if no one really interacts with it it’s still valuable, because the author will definitely see it if they’re tagged; and that’s an incredible confidence boost.
Writing fanfiction can get very demoralising, because it’s so hard to get engagement with our work, even though it takes time, and work, and skill! Creating in a vacuum is exhausting. Feeling like you’re talking to no one is exhausting. It might be obvious to you as a reader that this fic is fun, but the writer will never know you find it fun if you don’t tell them.
Interaction is the lifeblood of fandom; engagement is the fuel of writers. Don’t let your favourite writers give up on a story, or give up on fanfiction as a whole, just because you didn’t think your reaction mattered. It does. It really does.
Colorized footage of the legendary Annie Oakley speed shooting with her Winchester rifle, November 1, 1894
“When a man hits a target, they call
him a marksman. When I hit a target, they call it a trick. Never did
like that much.” - Annie Oakley
Idk who Annie Oakley is, but she’s so cool!
Annie Oakley was. BEAST of a marksman.
When she was fifteen, she went head-to-head in a shooting contest with a prize of $100, against a travelling exhibition marksman (Frank Butler). She beat him handily, and won the $100 (equivalent to over $2000 today). Please note that it was a shot-for-shot match, and he lost on the TWENTY-FIFTH clay pigeon (so it was a moving target, too). Twenty-five shots in a row, Annie hit them ALL.
This, understandably, resulted in Frank, who drank his respect women juice, to be like “Wow that is super hot and I’m in love.” They ended up getting married pretty soon after that, but didn’t have any kids (but IMAGINE IF THEY DID. A FAMILY OF SHARPSHOOTERS).
Some of her “trick” shooting (in other words, absolute badass nearly impossible shots given the sights on guns at the time and such) included:
Splitting a playing card clean in half from thirty paces while it was place on its edge.
Taking off the burning end of a cigarette placed in her husband’s mouth, from thirty+ paces.
Having someone throw a DIME into the air, and shooting it clean through.
She was lauded by Chief Sitting Bull for her marksmanship when he saw her blow out a candle with one shot, without damaging the wick or the candle itself.
Into her sixties, she continued breaking records as well as being a vocal women’s rights activist. She, in her later years, shot 100 clay pigeons in a row from 15 meters.
She died in 1915, and her husband was so consumed by grief that he stopped eating and died 18 days later because he couldn’t stand to be apart from her.
After her death it was discovered that her ENTIRE fortune (a tidy amount) had been secretly given to several charities, women’s rights groups, and her family in the last few months of her life.
She was legendary, and received numerous titles to go along with her abilities, but my favorite is definitely Annie Oakley, Little Sureshot of the West.
Jesus Christ was a brown Jew in the Middle East, conceived out of wedlock in an arguably interracial if not interspecies (deity and human) relationship, raised by his mother and stepfather in place of his absent father. He may not have had a Y chromosome. He spent his early youth as a refugee in Egypt, where his family no doubt survived initially on handouts from the wealthy (You think they kept that gold, frankincense, and myrrh from the wise men? Hell no, they sold that stuff for food and lodging). He later returned with his parents to their occupied homeland and lived in poverty.
Trump and his administration are xenophobic, misogynistic, racist, fear-mongering, warmongering, tax-dodging, anti-Semitic, anti-choice, anti-welfare, anti-equal pay, anti-LGBTQIA+, anti-immigration, support tax cuts for the rich, support Citizen’s United, want to keep refugees out of this country, want to limit our ability to speak against the government, plan to abolish the Affordable Care Act, and they wrap all of that up behind a banner of “Christian family values.” If you support them, you have no right to call yourself a follower of Christ.
it’s so rare, yet so fulfilling, to see the J-man on my dash
One of my friends is literally the most religious Christian I have ever met. What does that mean in regards to her lifestyle and outlook? She loves everyone. EVERYONE. Unconditionally. And she supports healthcare and education and birth control and everything that’s necessary to have a healthy, stable society.
Because that’s what her homeboy JC would want.
Also I love that OP acknowledged the ACTUAL Jewish teachings Jesus would have been drawing from, rather than antisemitic stereotypes and the concept that he, rather than his followers, started Christianity.
While there are things in his teaching that are inconsistent with Jewish teaching and thought (“I am the way, the truth, and the life” is the first one coming to my mind), his teaching was indisputably based in Torah and Jewish tradition; for example, the famous “the most important commandment is to love G-d, the second is to love your neighbor as yourself” can be traced DIRECTLY to Torah, in which the commandment “be kind to the stranger among you, as you were once strangers in Egypt” is repeated not once, not twice, but THIRTY-SIX times. This specific number, along with the fact that it’s repeated more than any other commandment in Torah, would in fact seem to mark it as the most important—and there’s even a midrash in which the famous rabbi Hillel agrees, stating: “that which is displeasing to you, do not do to others. The rest [of Torah] is all commentary. Now go and learn.”
So bless you, OP, for acknowledging where Jesus’ value set came from, and also the antisemitism this administration has encouraged and fostered.
Keep this post alive so that when CARLOS is old enough he’ll know these KIDNAPPERS stole him from his MOTHER!
Guatemalan mom: “Please help me my son was taken from me”
Those two assholes: “Lol finders keepers bitch lmao”
Carlos was taken from his mom, Encarnacion Bail Romero after she was arrested during a work raid. Her words, “Nobody could help me because I don’t speak English,” are still resonating deeply within me. This child was kidnapped from a loving mother, and she went to hell and backwards trying to get him back, and a judge literally told her she had no rights to her own child.
Completely unfit parents can get their children back like it’s nothing and this poor woman who loves her child and just wants him with her again cannot? How is this not human trafficking/kidnapping?
Also:
The judge said the biological mother had no rights to even see her child, according to the mother’s lawyer.
Asked if the Mosers would allow Bail Romero to see the child, the Mosers’ attorney, Joseph Hensley, said the couple was “not willing to comment on that at this time.” source
reminder that many children are funneled specifically to Christian families and communities for the same reasons they always have: destroy culture, stack votes, add bodies to communities that otherwise wouldn’t hold majorities. it is literal, actual trafficking.
This is a part of genocide. Removing the children from their parents, who generally desperately love and want to raise them, and placing them with white American families is a way to erase their culture from existence without the ugliness of directly killing children. But it’s still ugly, and it cares nothing for the actual welfare of the child.
when are y’all going to fucking tear down the detention centers?
anyone who supports this has no business calling themselves a christian, saying they have any moral authority, or pretending that nothing wrong happened
any person with a functioning moral compass should be sickened by this
I hope Carlos and other kids like him see this post and know they were not fucking adopted. they were kidnapped.
