The band and I are working on a mod for Fallout 4 where you can tune into a “Steam Powered Giraffe” radio station in game and listen to the robots banter and hear select songs from them.
Got the idea from a fan ( Michael Kenner ) who wanted to make a mod with just our songs.
I liked the idea enough that I asked “would you be cool if we developed this ourselves?”. He said of course and then I ran with it. That let us put in lots of songs without having to license them to a 3rd party (except for selling our souls to Bethesda’s EULA) and record Spine, Hatchworth, and Rabbit talking to each other in between songs.
Even mixed all the songs to mono and added some vinyl sounds for each of them. You know, to match the other radio stations.
Concept being the robots trapped in an inaccessible vault underground somewhere and they’re broadcasting to the surface world without any clue what happened after the bombs fell and if anyone/anything is alive.
Unfortunately Bethesda is having issues with sound mods for PS4 (due to Sony’s proprietary sound files) and the mod won’t be supported on PS4 when mods launch for it next month.
We’re holding off on releasing it until it will be available on PC, XBox One, and PS4 at the same time.
Sooooo look for that after Quintessential ships I guess.
