The four year old daughter of a Tamil family will be escorted to her first day of school by armed guards.

In this edition of “the latest horrors our government has decided is cool and chill”, the Australian born daughter of Priya and Nadesalingam is being treated like a threat to national security. Her parents came here as asylum seekers and were settled in the rural Queensland town of Biloela for several years where they’d become valued members of the community.

The government has decided to deport them all - including the two Australian born children. They’re currently awaiting the result of a court challenge to their deportation detained in the Christmas Island detention centre at a cost of nearly $20,000 per day to the tax payer. They’re the SOLE detainees on Christmas Island. That’s more than a recipient of newstart gets in a year but to let someone in need access life saving welfare is a bad thing according to the “fiscally responsible” Liberals, but they’ll spare no expense when it comes to ruining the lives of four brown people.

This is all just an exercise in fear mongering from the government who wants to use their cruelty towards this family as an example to discourage any other refugees who think that they can escape persecution in their home countries. Don’t come here - you’ll just be discriminated against in a different new way that involves sending armed guards to a kindergarten.
