Mayonnaise makes sense, though! It’s literally eggs and oil whipped together, which are both things you put in a cake anyway as risers and for moisture. So, while very odd, it makes sense if you think about it!

Here’s a funny thing about Humans - well, not really funny if you think about it - is that they’re not great at solving problems when they’re in distress. If you are over the age of 18 and somebody hasn’t already filed you as their dependent this year then PLEASE do yourself a stupid easy favor and file an incomeless tax return because you WILL get the back pay ($1,800) from last year’s covid relief and the third payment ($1,400) for free. like literally free. even if you had no income. i know because i was able to do it and it’s actually legitimately legal.
The deadline to file was extended to May 17th BTW so you have time!

Checked on this, the company issued a formal apology where they admitted they assumed the author was straight because she “presented herself as straight”

The publisher pulled the whole “you reacted negatively so we’re just never speaking again, i hope you’re happy” thing. bruh.
They’ve deleted their twitter, turned off comments for their YouTube channel (why do they have one of those??) And then posted one of those YouTuber apology statements.
We reached out to the author via telephone as well to formerly apologize but were only able to leave a voicemail.
Hurn Publications and its associates will never be making the mistake of assuming someone’s orientation. Additionally, we will be hiring outside sources to educate our entire company on how to not marginalize someone, even accidentally. It is unforgivable and has never been something that’s part of our ethos.
Most importantly, we apologize for making a snap judgement towards this author, for marginalizing her, and for making assumptions without merit. We were absolutely in the wrong and will make every single effort possible to never repeat our horrible mistake.

Like… Meaghan Hurn herself isn’t married to a man, and HER social media “presents as straight” by her own standards… so either she certainly shouldn’t judge someone else’s presentation on the Internet, *OR* she /is/ a straight cis woman, and definitely shouldn’t be in charge of judging queer media.
